ARGAN OIL (COLD PRESSED)
Argan oil comes from the kernels, growing on the argan trees native to Morocco. It has traditionally been used both topically and orally to improve the health of skin, hair and nails. Argan oil is characterised by the predominance of oleic and linoleic acid as unsaturated fatty acids. This oil has anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties because of linoleic acid and antioxidative activity due to phytosterols and squalane. Thus it helps to prevent or treat conditions like rosacea, psoriasis or atopic dermatitis. It has both antibacterial and fungicidal properties and supports the treatment of acne by effectively regulating amounts of sebum on the skin.
Owing to the presence of vitamin E and antioxidants, argan oil is often used as a moisturizer and supporter of healing wounds. It leaves the skin smooth and calm. It also works as an antioxidant, helping to protect the skin against free radical damage caused by the sun, supporting prevention of burns and hyperpigmentation. A study with postmenopausal participants found that a combination of oral and cosmetic argan oil led to a significant increase in elasticity of the skin.
